About This Archive
This digital archive preserves and protects the photographic legacy of Lala Deen Dayal (1844–1905), one of India's most distinguished photographers, together with the work of three succeeding generations of photographers from his family. His work documenting the royal courts, architecture, and daily life of nineteenth-century India remains unparalleled in its depth. Spanning over a century, the collection reflects a continuous tradition of image-making, documentation, and visual storytelling.
